Electric Forest 2017
For the past five years I have travelled to Rothbury Michigan for the Electric Forest festival as a vendor, selling art and clothing that I make with my other small business There You Glow. Since I was already going to the event and my good friends at The Grand Artique were going to be there as well I decided to try and get my blackjack game going somewhere somehow. I bought a blackjack table before the event and when I showed up with it Dayna with The Grand Artique gave me a fun little corner upstairs at the Trading Post in the Sherwood Forest.
The set up wasn’t anything spectacular but it worked out magnificently. We set the table on two milk-crates and I displayed my items either right on the table or hanging to either side of me. The event is very large and there is a plethora of things to entertain participants inside of the Sherwood Forest, but each night of each weekend the number of people I would have at the table would grow and grow. What I also found was that I had the same people coming back again and again bringing new and more interesting items. On each Sunday night the last few hours had standing room only as people came with the strangest of oddities to try and bet at the table. Most interesting oddity: a MC Hammer cassette tape…because what twenty year old carries cassette tapes in their backpack. Really.
